The roaring Twenties
Changes from the previous eras
African-Americans still treated unfair but received more credit and equality since the Harlem Renaissance shed a new light for the African-American people and their talents. People were now able to buy things without actually needing the full value, causing them to go and buy more (installment plan), which was also a cause to the Great Depression. Cities grew more rapidly than ever (due to automobiles/electricity). Automobiles allowed people to travel when and where they desired. Women took on new styles and ways of life and tried to eliminate the double standard between themselves and men (flappers).
Red scare
A panic in the U.S. beginning in 1919, after revolutionaries
in Russia overthrew the Czarist regime. People in America
feared that the same would happen in America and would
become communistic.

would be a lesser chance of communistic people in
America.

installment buying
First became popular during consumerism, the purchase of many items.
It is the concept of buying things on credit, spending money they don't have,
which lead to greater economic problems since they didn't realize that they
would have to pay interest.

Core American Values
Nationalism is presented through the Red Scare and Palmer raids during this time period. People wanted to make sure that their country wouldn't resort to communism.
People had experienced great work ethic during the 1920's, they had to work hard to afford the various things that were coming out during this time.
Those who could not afford to buy things all at once would resort to installment buying, where it would help people in need by giving them money that they could pay back later.
