World war i
Changes from the previous eras
Freedoms are taken away by the government (Espionage & Sedition Acts) to limit the people's opinion about the government and the war to make sure that nothing harmful would be said. The United States also breaks their abstinence from foreign affairs by entering WWI because of the temptations they experience (Lusitania & Zimmerman note).
Core American Values
During WWI there was extreme Nationalism shown through the people. They though that we, Americans, were the best at what we do and would support the nation 100% in war effort.
People also demonstrated major work ethic during the war. They used total war, where everything was put into war effort. Many were enlisted in the war while others were working in factories to produce goods that were needed for the war and the country.
The U.S. was able to help others in need when joining the Allies with their fight against the Central Powers. The war ends within a year that the U.S. joins the war.
